Plywood or block board?

Plywood

Layered for all-round strength

Thin hardwood veneers glued at right angles. Strong in every direction, holds screws firmly and is the first choice for carcasses, kitchens and wardrobes.

Block board

Solid core for long spans

Solid timber strips between veneers. Lighter and very stiff along its length — ideal for doors, long shelves, beds and table tops that must not sag.
